MAKES KETOSIS RYHMES WITH DIAGNOSIS
After having explored the reasons why cows face Negative Energy Balance (NEBAL) (cf Newsletter December 2017) in early lactation and how a Ketosis appears (cf Newsletter March 2018), we will finish this series by talking about how to diagnose this metabolic disease, the risk factors and the treatments. Recent studies show that a ketosis costs around 330€/case. The global prevalence is today estimated from 20 to 40% for subclinical ketosis (SCK) and 5 to 15% for clinical ketosis (CK). This disease has a strong economic and technical impact on a dairy herd, whatever the level of milk production.
