ENERGY DENSITY - ARE YOU UP TO IT?
When I discuss with nutritionist about feed energy density, I am often asked what should be the right level of energy for lactation feed. It is a difficult question. There is no standard level of energy for a lactation feed. It will depend on the requirement of each sow, which depends on its level of production. A sow feeding 9, 12 or 16 piglets will not have the same level of energy requirement. We should actually measure the animal requirement according to the farm situation before deciding about the feed energy density.
